Students from SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, participated in the 2nd Nabarasa Natya Mela 2025–2026, organized by the Kalakar theatre at Rabindra Mandap, Bhubaneswar, on 2 May 2025.
The event aimed to celebrate and promote the art of theatre through powerful performances that highlighted themes of courage, conviction, and perseverance. It also sought to foster cultural engagement, inspire students through artistic expression, and provide a platform for emerging talents to showcase their creativity and skills.
The evening commenced with a brief welcome address by the Theatre Wing Coordinator, setting the tone for the cultural celebration. This was followed by an introduction to the featured play, ‘Rashmirathi’, and its underlying thematic significance.
‘Rashmirathi’ is a compelling theatrical rendition of the story of Karna, the unsung hero of the Mahabharata. The play skilfully portrayed themes of struggle, destiny, karma, and resilience, offering the audience a rich blend of narrative depth and dramatic intensity. The emotional and philosophical portrayal of Karna’s journey left a profound and lasting impact on the viewers.
After the performance, the guests were invited to share their reflections on the play. The esteemed guests for the evening included Shri Ajay Kumar Mohapatra, an eminent writer, Shrimati Jayashree Mohanty, Co-Founder and President of Luminous Infoways, Shrimati Anita Mohapatra, and Dr. Saroj Kanta Misra, Advisor, Silicon University. They were deeply moved by the performance and offered high praise for the exceptional direction and the emotionally resonant performances delivered by the cast.
The event concluded with the felicitation of the participating artists, who were honoured with certificates in recognition of their talent and dedication. The play saw an enthusiastic gathering of one hundred and fifty attendees, including students, faculty members, and guests. In a heartfelt vote of thanks, the Event Coordinator expressed deep gratitude to the performers, the technical and backstage teams, the organizing committee, the distinguished guests, and the audience. Their collective support, involvement, and presence were instrumental in making the event a memorable and resounding success.
