Silicon West celebrates 76th Independence Day

Silicon Institute of Technology, Sambalpur (Silicon West) celebrated 76th Independence Day on 15 August 2022 with great enthusiasm love, pride and respect for the nation. Students, faculty members, and staff paid tribute to India’s freedom fighters on this day.

Dr. Mihir Hota, Dean (Academics) hoisted the national flag which was followed by the singing of the national anthem by the students and faculty members. Thereafter, the students did the parade to the accompaniment of drums. Dr. Mihir delivered a speech on this occasion to instill the spirit of patriotism and inculcate love for the nation among the students. He shared his thoughts on how students can make a difference in the growing India by contributing individually and as a team. According to him, India’s youth are the fuel of the nation, and its dreams must be shaped by their passions and aspirations.

Students also spoke on a variety of topics related to India’s independence in English, Hindi, and Odia. They sang patriotic songs and formed human pyramids as a mark of respect to the strength and agility of our armed forces.

The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Ms Ankita Panda, Faculty Coordinator (FC), Students’ Council.
