The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (ED Cell) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at Silicon Institute of Technology, Sambalpur (Silicon West) collaborated with the Foundation for Technology Business Incubator (FTBI), National Institute of Technology, Rourkela to organize a Startup Bootcamp on 18 April, 2026.
The objective was to foster innovation, promote entrepreneurship, and provide students a platform to pitch ideas with potential incubation support. The platform hoped to encourage creative thinking and pursue entrepreneurial goals with confidence.
The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries including Prof. Mihir Hota, Dean Academics, Silicon West, Shri Chiranjibi Samal, CEO, FTBI, and Prof. Subrat Panda, President, FTBI, NIT Rourkela, who emphasized the importance of startups and innovation in today’s dynamic landscape. A video presentation on FTBI gave participants a clearer understanding of the startup ecosystem and available incubation support.
The highlight of the event was the Idea Pitching competition, where students presented innovative solutions to real-world problems. All the winners were awarded prizes for their outstanding performance. The first prize was awarded to Rakesh Barik and Dinesh Lenka for their project titled ‘Wireless Smart Charging System’. The second prize was secured by Oshan Khatii and Khiriz Naik for their innovative project ‘Second Life – A Smart Waste Exchange Platform for Industries’. The third prize was won by Suman Majhi and Mrityunjay Singh for their project ‘Iniato – A Route-Based Shared Mobility Platform’.
