Silicon Institute of Technology, Sambalpur (Silicon West), organized an insightful online expert talk titled ‘Empowering Smart Cities with AI-Driven Edge and Fog Computing Architecture’ on 30 August 2025, during the induction of the newly admitted students of the 2025–29 batch.
Dr. Sourav Kanti Addya, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, delivered the talk.
In his presentation, Dr. Addya traced the evolution of technology, highlighting the transformative roles of the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, and cloud computing in shaping smart cities. He provided detailed insights into cloud architecture, discussed key challenges in its implementation, and explored potential solutions to address these obstacles.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students posed thought-provoking questions. Dr. Addya responded with clarity and depth, making the session highly engaging and informative. The talk successfully broadened students’ understanding of emerging technologies and their application in future smart city ecosystems.
