Silicon Institute of Technology, Sambalpur (Silicon West) organized an industrial visit to the Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) located inBanharpalli, Jharsuguda on 17 December 2022. The objective of this visit was to make the students aware about the working mechanism of a thermal power plant.
OPGC is an Odisha government owned company which operates state of the art thermal power plants at Banharpalli, Jharsuguda. It has a total generation capacity of 1740 MW. Its main objective is establishing, operating & maintaining large thermal power generating stations.
Silicon West students from different branches of 2023 graduating batch visited the various facilities and set up present at OPGC. Students learned how OPGC’s thermal power stations work from OPGC officials.
Mr. Nabin Kumar Naik, Senior Assistant Professor, Electrical & Communication Engineering, Ms. Sagarika Pradhan, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Biresh Kumar Dakua, Assistant Professor, Electrical Engineering and Mr. Satya Narayan Das, Technical Assistant, Electrical Engineering accompanied the students to the industry.
