Silicon Institute of Technology, Sambalpur (Silicon West), organized its 17th Orientation Program on 16 August 2025, to welcome the newly admitted students of the B.Tech. 2025 admission batch. The event marked the beginning of their academic journey in the field of engineering and technology.
The program aimed to introduce students and their guardians to the institute’s academic vision, policies, and campus facilities. It served as a platform to familiarize them with institutional systems, residential life, and support mechanisms, ensuring a smooth transition into the academic environment.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Mihir Hota, Dean (Academics), who shared the institute’s ethos and academic vision. Prof. Pradeep Kumar Mishra, Former Director and member of the Governing Body, graced the occasion as Chief Guest, motivating students with valuable insights on academic excellence and personal growth.
Dr. Manoj Kumar Mahapatra, Faculty-in-Charge, Academic Committee, outlined the academic policies and expectations, following which Dr. Nabin Kumar Naik, Faculty-in-Charge, Residence (Hostels), introduced students to hostel life and welfare facilities. Dr. Chinmayee Padhy, Faculty-in-Charge, ERP, guided participants through the ERP portal, while Dr. Simanchal Bag, Faculty-in-Charge, Students’ Council, explained institutional facilities and points of contact for student support. Additionally, Ms. Sagarika Pradhan, Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, detailed the Faculty Advisory System to help students understand the mentoring structure.
An interaction session followed these talks, enabling students and parents to clarify queries and engage with faculty members. The program was coordinated by Dr. Sonalika Mishra, Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering, with active support from the Students’ Council. The Admission Committee managed admission formalities, document verification, and hostel allocation, while the Systems Department provided technical assistance. Furthermore, the administrative department ensured logistical arrangements.
After the orientation, students will undergo a bridge course and a two-week Induction Program, designed to help them adapt to the academic environment and build a strong foundation for the future.
