Silicon West organizes Model United Nations 2026

The Literary Club at Silicon Institute of Technology, Sambalpur (Silicon West) organized a Model United Nations (MUN) 2026 on 21 February 2026.

Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the United Nations where participants represent different countries and engage in structured debates, negotiations, and resolution drafting on global issues. The committees in this edition covered a wide range of themes, including international peace and security, climate change and sustainable development, global economic stability, governance of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence, human rights and democratic governance, global health and pandemic preparedness, food and agricultural sustainability, and education policy and youth development, providing delegates with a comprehensive platform to understand and address contemporary international challenges.

The event aimed to provide students with exposure to diplomatic dialogue and critical engagement on issues of geopolitical relevance, while fostering leadership, research, and public speaking skills.

Dr. Himanshu Sekhar Mishra, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Sambalpur University, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and external jury member. Prof. Mihir Hota, Dean (Academics), welcomed the delegates during the inaugural session.

The program featured three rounds—briefing the house, open house, and jury’s shoot. The internal jury included Dr. Sonalika Mishra, and Dr. Simanchal Bag. The proceedings were conducted by Amlan Abhijeet Mishra (8th Semester, CSE), Secretary General and Sourav (6th Semester, CSE), Honourable Chair.

Mr. Rahul Pattnayak (4th Semester, CSE), representing Saudi Arabia, was adjudged the Best Delegate of MUN 2026. All participants received certificates, and the Best Delegate was awarded a trophy, certificate of appreciation, and prizes.
