A team of talented students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Silicon Institute of Technology, Sambalpur (Silicon West), qualified for the final round of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025, a flagship national initiative promoting innovation, problem-solving, and industry–academia collaboration held at Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology, Bathinda, in association with the Government of Punjab, on 8 and 9 December 2025. The team’s selection through a rigorous multi-stage evaluation process reflects the institute’s strong emphasis on experiential learning, innovation-driven education, and outcome-based teaching practices.
The shortlisted team comprised Kunal Sanga (Team Leader), Soumili Ghosh, Mugdha Naik, Lilu Sethi, Sunny K. Sebu, and S. K. Kausik, all students of the 5th Semester. The team presented their solution which was appreciated for its originality, technical depth, and practical relevance. Their performance highlighted the effectiveness of institutional support mechanisms such as mentoring, project-based learning, and innovation-focused academic initiatives.
This achievement significantly contributes to the institute’s performance indicators in student achievements, innovation ecosystem development, and participation in national-level competitions, and serves as an inspiration for fellow students to actively engage in platforms that nurture future innovators and problem solvers.
