SiliconTech celebrates 76th Independence Day

SiliconTech celebrated 76th Independence Day on 15 August 2022 to commemorate the glorious journey of India’s Independence under the AKAM (Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav) initiative launched by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

The Independence Day celebration began with a 5 km long mini-marathon which started from Gate-1 of the campus. After the completion of the marathon, our Principal, Dr. Jaideep Talukdar hoisted the national flag. It was followed by singing of the national anthem by the staff, students and audience gathered to witness the celebration. Dr. Talukdar addressed the gathering and shared his thoughts about the significant achievements of India over the past 75 years and acknowledge this remarkable milestone in the history of our nation.

SiliconTech organized numerous competitions from 23 July to 15 August to observe AKAM and inculcate the spirit of patriotism among the students. The competitions included singing, dancing, speech, essay writing, quiz, poster designing and writing letters to the editor of SLATE (in-house publication of SiliconTech). The staff welfare committee organized a special painting competition named ‘Aalekh’ for the staff members and their children. The winners of the different competitions were awarded prizes and certificates during the celebration.

The event also included cultural performances by our students. Silicon creative team members put special efforts to decorate the campus in saffron, white and green to make the surrounding resonate with the mood of joyous celebration. A selfie-station erected to further document the occasion, and follow government mandates.
