Silicon Students Council (SSC) organized a yoga-cum-meditation session to celebrate the International Day of Yoga (IDY) on 21 June 2023.
International Day of Yoga is celebrated every year on 21 June. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) encourages technical institutes across the country to undertake various yoga-related activities, to raise awareness and promote health and fitness. The theme of IDY 2023 was ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’.
‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ is a Sanskrit phrase that translates to “the world is one family”. The idea behind ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ is that all of humanity, irrespective of differences in nationality, race, religion, or culture, is interconnected and should live together as a global family.
The yoga-cum-meditation session at SiliconTech was conducted in the Yoga Hall. Mr. Prasant Kumar Mallik, our yoga teacher and Mr. Tarini Charana Mishra, a faculty member, demonstrated yoga postures which were simultaneously performed by the participants. Several asanas including Pawanmuktasana, Katichakrasana, Tadasana, Bhujangasana, Utthanapadasana, Surya Namaskar etc., were performed. It was followed by meditation and Shavasana, where all participants relaxed by sleeping as a part of doing the asana.
Fifty-two students, staff and faculty members joined the session to perform yoga and create awareness about the benefits of staying fit.
