Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar (SiliconTech) collaborated with Vatsalya Wellness team from IIM Ahmedabad to organize an awareness program on ‘Sustainable Menstrual Health’ on 13 September 2023.
The objective of the awareness program was to educate about eco-friendly menstruation practices and raise awareness regarding the environmental impact of conventional menstrual products. The program further aimed to create a more environmentally conscious and dignified approach to menstruation.
Vatsalya Wellness is an initiative aimed at creating sustainable menstrual health. They manufacture biodegradable sanitary napkins that are free from harmful chemicals as they utilize banana essence and bamboo extracts as raw materials.
Mr. Paritosh Anand and Ms. Chitranshi Baranwal, Co-founders of Vatsalya Wellness &Genie Pads, graced the occasion with their august presence. Mr. Anand is an IIM Ahmedabad alumnus. He is also the Peace Ambassador at World Peace Tracts, Sweden, dedicatedly working to promote harmony through dialogue and understanding. With a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt background, he is committed to streamlining operations efficiently in diverse projects. Furthermore, he is a mentor at the Startup India MAARG(Mentorship, Advisory, Assistance, Resilience, and Growth) platform, an initiative by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. Ms. Baranwal is a microbiologist and winner of the National Women Entrepreneur Award 2023. She is also representing India as a Global Ambassador at the World Literacy Foundation, Australia. Furthermore, she has authored three seminal books on microbiology.
In their address, our experts provided valuable insights on sustainable menstrual health and showcased their innovative products. It was an interactive session where the participants had all their queries answered by the speakers.
A total of 125 participants attended the awareness program and pledged to adopt sustainable menstrual products and create awareness about using them.
