SiliconTech conducts the induction program for its second batch of Ph.D. scholars

SiliconTech conducted the induction program for its newly admitted 2nd batch of Ph.D. scholars on 17 October 2022 to introduce them to the institute’s rules, regulations and research practices.

Our Director, Dr. Saroj Kanta Misra delivered the welcome address where he shared the best research practices with the scholars.

Prof. Rakesh Chandra Balabantaray, Dean, Academics, IIIT, BBSR gave a virtual talk on the selection of research problem statement, importance of reading good research papers before starting the actual research work and the necessary steps required to be followed during the different phases of research.

The second virtual talk was delivered by Dr. Debiprasad Das, Principal Scientist, CSIR-IMMT, BBSR. Dr. Das explained how to begin research with literature survey, develop the research proposal, choose samples to conduct research and later analyze the results to draw inferences. He also spoke about the significance of publishing research papers and shared the thesis writing approaches.

Thereafter, our Dean (Research) Dr. Jayashree Das, shared all the key information regarding the Ph.D. program of the Institute including the curriculum, laboratory facilities, research center, library and assignment of guides. This was followed by an interactive session where the scholars got an opportunity to clarify their doubts. Later, the Ph.D. scholars were given a tour of the campus to explore the available infrastructure and facilities and discuss their research work with their respective supervisors.

A total of seven candidates have registered for Ph.D. programs this year in four different disciplines which include CSE (Computer Science Engineering), ECE (Electronics and Communication Engineering), EIE (Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering) and Mathematics.
