SiliconTech’s Department of CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) collaborated with Google Developer Groups (GDG), Bhubaneswar to organize a workshop on Android Study Jam on 3 September 2022. The workshop was conducted by our alumnus Mr. Sriyank Siddhartha and Mr. Guru Prasad Mohapatra both working with GDG, Bhubaneswar. The objective of the workshop was to give hands-on training to the students to create android apps.
The workshop trained the students in Android Jetpack Compose. Jetpack Compose is a modern toolkit for building native Android UI (User-Interface). It simplifies and accelerates UI development on Android with less code, powerful tools, and intuitive Kotlin APIs. In this workshop, students and developers built a simple UI component with declarative Kotlin functions. They did not edit any XML layouts or used the traditional Layout Editor. Instead, they used composable functions to define what elements they want in their user interface, and the Compose compiler did the rest to render beautiful UIs.
The event was conducted in the Remote Centre of SiliconTech and was co-ordinated by Dr. Samaleswari Prasad Nayak, Senior Assistant Professor, Department of CSE. 51 participants from different colleges across Bhubaneswar enthusiastically participated in the workshop.
All the participants enjoyed the workshop and learned new and exciting things. You can get a glimpse of some feedback about the workshop by clicking here.
