Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar (SiliconTech) conducted an induction program for the 6th B.Tech. batch (2023-2027) under autonomy from 7 to 9 September 2023 in the offline mode. Prior to this, as per the AICTE norms, the orientation program for the new batch of students was conducted on 26 August 2023 in the virtual mode.
The objective of this program was to familiarize students with campus facilities, academic requirements, and institutional policies. The program also aimed to instill ethical values and a sense of belonging within the college community.
Our Principal Dr. Jaideep Talukdar addressed the students and their parents virtually in the orientation program held on 26 August 2023. Dr. Ramaprasad Panda, Dean, Administration & Student Affairs, Dr. Debabrata Kar, Dean, Academics, and Dr. Chittaranjan Behera, Faculty-in-Charge, ERP also addressed the students and informed them about the important details in their respective fields. Our Director, Dr. Saroj Kanta Misra along with our Deans, then conducted an interactive session to address the queries of students and parents.
The students were given detailed presentations about the various clubs, activities, and facilities of SiliconTech in the three-day induction program held from 7 to 9 September 2023. Guest lectures on various topics were also conducted during the induction. Dr. Ashok Kumar Sahu, Managing Director of Centre for Human Development and Neuro Linguistic Research (CHDNLR) & Former Executive Director of National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) delivered a talk on ‘Moral Ethics and Human Values’, Mr. Abhijit Sen, CEO of Syllogistek delivered a talk on ‘Version 2.0: Building my Future Self’ emphasizing the need of preparation and strategy for achieving success and Dr. Suvendu Narayan Mishra, Professor in Psychiatry, IMS and SUM Ultimate Hospital conducted an interactive session on ‘Mental Health’. Our alumni – Dr. Manas Kumar Jena, Assistant Professor, IIT Palakkad, Mr. Shreechandan Mallick, Assistant Technology Manager, Lloyds Banking Group, UK, Mr. Rakesh Pany, Lead Cybersecurity Architect, Airbus, Mr. Sumanta Patro, Scientist, TCS Research and Innovations Lab, Mr. Akash Kumar, postgraduate student, IIT Bombay, and Mr. Sabyasachi Mishra, film actor, Ollywood interacted with the students in the hybrid mode and answered their queries related to the institute.
The three-day program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Bidyadhar Padhi, Head of the Department, Basic Sciences and Humanities. The induction program successfully fostered an overall understanding of the institute and its values.
