SiliconTech observes its 21st Foundation Day

Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar (SiliconTech) observed its 21st Foundation Day on 10 September 2022, reflecting on its journey so far and celebrating the milestones achieved since the institute’s inception.

The event began with the welcome address delivered by Subhashree Ojha, Assistant Professor, Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities. Our Principal, Dr. Jaideep Talukdar congratulated all the stakeholders of the institute on the occasion and highlighted the recent milestones achieved by SiliconTech.

The keynote speaker of the event was Dr. Chitta Ranjan Mishra, Chemical Scientist & Technologist, Former Deputy General Manager (R & D), NALCO. He is also a columnist, television anchor, author, orator and science popularizer of repute. Dr. Mishra has received large numbers of national, international and state level awards and recognitions for his outstanding contributions to the field of science & technology.

Dr. Mishra spoke on ‘Pandit Nehru and Birth of Scientific Temper in India’. He enlightened the audience on the significant aspects of India’s glorious journey in scientific development. He said that the word scientific temper was first used by Pandit Nehru in his book ‘The Discovery of India’. He also shared that the Indian Constitution is the only Constitution in the world to have the word ‘scientific temper’ in it. Further, Dr. Mishra discussed a brief history of the emergence and growth of science in India and recalled the celebrated figures in the fields of scientific discoveries and inventions. He encouraged the audience to make efforts to reach greater heights in scientific exploration.

Dr. Mishra’s address was followed by an interactive session where he addressed the questions of our audience. More than 100 faculty members of SiliconTech joined the Foundation Day celebration.

It is noteworthy to mention that the first ever class was conducted in the institute on 10 September 2001. Since then, this day is being celebrated as the Foundation Day of the institution.
