SiliconTech organized a talk on ‘Attentive Reading with Speed Learning’ on 22 July 2022. The objective of this session was to introduce our staff and faculty members to the various techniques involved in speed reading.
The session was conducted by Mr, Daya Senan, Lead Trainer and Course Designer at Elite Learning Matrix, Singapore. Mr. Senan is famous for discovering his own techniques of reading known as ‘Attentive Reading’ and ‘Co-ordinated Reading’. He has over 30 years of experience in training readers worldwide on reading with speed and attention to improve their efficiency.
The session began with an exercise in which Mr. Senan and his team distributed texts among the audience and asked them to find their WPM (Words per Minute) score. WPM score refers to the number of words read by a reader in one minute. The higher the WPM score, the faster the reader reads. Then, he mentioned certain techniques used to increase our concentration which in turn, enable us to read faster. He repeated the exercise with the audience by asking them to use the techniques discussed and re-check their WPM score. Most of the faculty members found their scores to be higher than the previous ones.
K. Supriya, one of Mr. Senan’s trainee, also discussed her experience of successfully completing the course and how the speed-reading course has benefitted her in preparing for examinations.
