SiliconTech organizes an expert talk on ‘ISRO: India’s Most Successful Startup’

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) Student Chapters at SiliconTech jointly organized an expert talk on ‘ISRO: India’s Most Successful Startup’ on 15 December 2023.

The expert talk was delivered by Ms. Gita Aravamudan, writer, and journalist. Ms. Aravamudan has co-authored a book entitled ‘ISRO: A Personal History’ along with Mr. Ramabhadran Aravamudan. Mr. Aravamudan is an Indian space scientist and engineer associated with the Indian space program since 1962.

The objective of the talk on ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) was to provide insights into the historical, technological, and organizational aspects that contributed to the establishment and growth of ISRO. The talk aimed to showcase ISRO’s journey, highlight key milestones and inspire an understanding of the challenges and achievements that shaped India’s space program.

In her talk, the speaker introduced the background of the book to the audience and narrated the gripping story of the people who built India’s first space research program. She highlighted the obstacles faced by the early space scientists and how they overcame the difficulties. She further discussed her career as a journalist and shed light on how her perseverance and determination helped her to overcome the challenges she faced in her profession.

The talk was followed by a question-answer session in which the students and faculty members interacted with the speaker and discussed space science technology and its evolution.
