The Industry Interface Cell (II Cell) at SiliconTech organized an industrial visit to HINDALCO (Hindustan Aluminum Corporation Limited), Hirakud from 13 to 14 September 2023.
HINDALCO is the metals flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group. It is an industry leader in aluminum and copper. HINDALCO Hirakud Plant is located in the Sambalpur district of Odisha. This plant has one of the most sophisticated rolling mills in the country.
The purpose of this visit was to offer practical insights into the industry, provide a comprehensive understanding of plant operations, highlight potential research opportunities in the industrial sector, and explore the scope for possible collaborations.
This industrial visit will fosteran academic-industrial partnership for research and consultancy, facilitated through the Practice School (PS) program at SiliconTech. Throughout this visit, the SiliconTech team acquired invaluable insights into various facets of HINDALCO’s operations and had the privilege of in-depth discussions with experts from HINDALCO, gaining a profound understanding of several critical challenges faced by the company.
A total of six faculty members and two students had the opportunity to enrich their knowledge through this visit by active engagement and gained valuable insights.
