SiliconTech organizes the 13th National Workshop on Emerging Technologies (NWET 2022)

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at SiliconTech organized the 13th National Workshop on Emerging Technologies (NWET 2022) from 24 – 26 November 2022.

The objective of this event was to provide a forum for the industry and academia to discuss about the emerging technologies and share their best practices.

The inaugural session of NWET 2022 began with the welcome address delivered by Dr. Jaideep Talukdar, our Principal. The chief guest of the event, Prof. A.K Tripathy, former director general of the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), provided an overview of the power industry’s development in the last century. Mr. P. K. Pattnaik, General Manager, Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) discussed how the workshop can help in the refinement of power system operations. Prof. (Dr.) Bidyadhar Subudhi, Dean (R&D), IIT Goa joined the event as the guest of honour and shared his thoughts on industry interface and the need to craft a new era in the power sector. The inaugural session ended with the vote of thanks proposed by the convenor of the workshop, Dr. Ramaprasad Panda, Dean Administration & Student Affairs. The inaugural session was followed by a technical session addressed by Dr. Bidyadhar Subudhi and Prof. A. K. Tripathy.

The second day of workshop comprised of expert talks by Mr. K. K. Murty, Former Chief Engineer & HoD (Testing & Commissioning), Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Ltd (MPPTCL) Jabalpur, Mr. Jayant Sinha from Capgemini, Dr. Chandrashekhar N. Bhende from IIT, Bhubaneswar, Dr. Sudipta Debnath from Jadavpur University and Mr. P K Pattanaik. This was followed by two technical presentations by our sponsors Power Transformer Sales & Services Pvt. Ltd. and CTR Manufacturing Industries Ltd. respectively.

On the third day of the workshop, informative talks were delivered by the experts including Mr. S. Gopa Kumar, Managing Director Cape Electric, Mr. Sethuraman Ganesan, Advisor, Energy Sector, Dr. Y P Chawla, Sr. Research Fellow at International Institute of Information Technology (I2IT), Pune, Mr. Ramesh D Suryavanshi, Power Assist FZE, UAE & Senior Member IEEE, CIGRE, Mr. Pramod Rao, Senior Technical Advisor, Yash High Voltage, Sri Shantanu Kumar, Senior Asset Strategy Engineer, Perth, Australia, Mr. Shyam Ravindran, Managing Director, Sonel Instruments, Mr. Mohan Kumar, Sr. Sales Manager, Easun MR and Dr. Aradhana Ray from Laxmi Associates, Gujarat.

In addition to this, various industries exhibited their products to the diverse participants of the workshop. There were stalls from Sonel Instruments, Easun-MR, Yash High Voltage and CTR Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd.
