The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at SiliconTech organized the 14th National Workshop on Emerging Technologies (NWET 2023) on 16 December 2023.
The workshop focused on ‘Green Energy: The Primary Link to Modern India’. The objective of this event was to provide a forum for the industry and academia to discuss emerging technologies and share their best practices.
The inaugural session of NWET 2023 was addressed by Shri. Bhadresh Bachubhai Mehta, Director of State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC), Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL).
The first technical session began with an address by Mr. P.K. Pattanaik, Senior General Manager, OPTCL. Mr. Pattanaik shed light on how green technology has developed under the onus of green modernization and digitalization. The workshop continued with another talk by Mr. KVS Baba, former Chief Managing Director (CMD) of Power System Operation Corporation Limited (POSOCO). In his talk, Mr. Baba discussed the regulatory challenges and policy frameworks concerning green energy. Mr. Gopa Kumar, Managing Director (MD) of Cape India Pvt. Ltd. was the next speaker. In his talk, he shared insights on challenges and remedies regarding lightning protection of people and property. The session ended with a talk by Mr. Bibhu Charan Swain, Energy consultant at Powertech Solution. He suggested the implementation of an integrated energy efficiency and demand-side management model.
The second technical session was held in the afternoon. Mr. Raj Singh Niranjan, Managing Partner at Trans India Law Associates shared his insights on green energy laws, policies, and energy rights. The session concluded with another talk by Mr. P.K. Pattanaik in which he discussed grid challenges in the management of intermittent green energy.
A panel discussion was held after all the expert talks were over. The discussion was followed by a question-answer session in which the audience interacted with the expert speakers.

A total of one hundred and thirty students, research scholars, and industry experts participated in the event to make it successful.
