SiliconTech organized the 4th edition of the Model United Nations (SITMUN 2022) from 11 – 13 March 2022.
Silicon Institute of Technology Model United Nations (SITMUN) is a simulation of the United Nations where students play the role of delegates from different countries and attempt to find solutions to rising global issues through research, drafting, lobbying and debating.
The chief guest of the conference was S.Sushree, DCP Traffic Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, who is the youngest IPS Officer of Odisha Cadre.
The conference had three committees and one International press.
The committees were – United Nations General Assembly Disarmament and International Security Committee (UNGA DISEC), United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The agenda of UNGA DISEC was to discuss the role of private military companies in modern warfare, so as to deliberate how private partnerships are connected to the national governments for better military governance. The agenda of UNHRC was to deliberate and recommend the formation of a new framework for a more transparent and effective humanitarian aid with a special focus on countries and regions like Afghanistan, the Middle East and Africa. The agenda of UNFCCC was to ensure proper implementation of existing frameworks and mechanisms for climate change adaptation and mitigation with special emphasis on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2030.
A total of 150 delegates from SiliconTech and other colleges in Bhubaneswar attended this conference. The members of the executive body were from Delhi, Maharashtra and Bhubaneswar. The event concluded successfully with a closing ceremony and prize distribution.
