SiliconTech’s Entrepreneurship Development Cell (ED Cell) organized two three-week Women Entrepreneurship Development Programs (WEDP) in online mode. Both these programs were sponsored by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India.
The objective of these programs was to encourage women to pursue a career in entrepreneurship. The Indian economy is growing every decade and start-ups are considered as the primary engines driving this growth. Despite being the third largest start-up nation with over 27,000 start-ups, India has only 5 women start-up founders. This statistic highlights the multi-layered challenges faced by female entrepreneurs. These training programs aim to educate women interested in making a career in entrepreneurship.
The first WEDP was organized from 8– 26May 2023. In the inauguration ceremony, held on 8 May 2023, Dr. Jaideep Talukdar, our Principal, delivered the welcome address. Dr. Mahendra Prasad Agasty, Faculty-in-Charge, ED Cell shared the objectives of the program and motivated the participants to sincerely attend the same. Ms. Piyali De, Co-Founder of the NGO ‘Duhita’ and a successful women entrepreneur joined the inauguration ceremony and addressed the participants. Ms. De is in the business of the production of Carbon Dioxide gas, PET preforms and plastic jars and bottles. Her company Kalinga Gases Pvt. Ltd. has manufacturing units in Bhubaneswar, Rourkela, and Kolkata.
A total of forty sessions were conducted in the WEDP by renowned trainers, industry experts, bankers, entrepreneurs, and government officials. Twenty five participants from across the country participated in the program.
The second WEDP was organized from 15 May – 2 June 2023. In the inauguration ceremony, held on 15 May 2023, Dr. Jaideep Talukdar, our Principal, delivered the welcome address. Dr. Mahendra Prasad Agasty, Faculty-in-Charge, ED Cell shared the objectives of the program. Ms. Swosti Mishra, Founder of Mye.Farm, one of the largest Agri-tech companies of India that tries to connect the farmers and the customers, addressed the participants.
Twenty five participants from across the country participated in the program. A total of forty sessions were conducted in the WEDP by renowned trainers, industry experts, bankers, entrepreneurs, and government officials.
After successful completion of these programs, the participants were able to identify the right opportunities, write business proposals, conduct market surveys, know about promotional financial regulating schemes for MSMEs, and plan a curriculum that can imbibe the skills and competencies to achieve the desired goals. The participants also developed a positive attitude to cope with the changing times.
