SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, organized ZYGON, the much-awaited annual cultural fest, on 28 February and 1 March 2025.
The theme of ZYGON 2025, ‘Carnival’, transformed the entire campus into a vibrant celebration. The Creative Club worked tirelessly to craft stunning, theme-based artifacts displayed throughout the campus, immersing everyone in the lively, festive atmosphere of a carnival. These artistic creations added a dynamic and colourful touch, perfectly capturing the essence of the theme and enhancing the overall ambiance of the festival.
A highlight of this year’s fest was the Odyssey Cup, which spanned a fortnight of competitions leading up to the event, with the finale rounds taking place on the first two days of the fest. The Odyssey Cup aimed to honour the best-performing batch for their outstanding contributions. Students from the first, second, third, and fourth years were divided into different houses. Competitions included quiz, computer gaming, personality contests, creative arts, and design, performing arts (dance and music), and fun amusement activities. A notable first this year was the ‘Flavors Parade’, a cooking competition that added a unique and delicious flair to the event. The winners and runners-up of each event were awarded points, which were later tallied to calculate the total scores for each year. The Third-year B.Tech. students emerged as the winners of the Odyssey Cup with the highest score, making their mark in the competition.
Furthermore, stalls were set up by students selling food, gifts, and other items, with additional booths offering game, tattoo, and mehndi decoration services, further contributing to the carnival-like atmosphere.
The cultural events were held in the evening on the North Lawn. Students were carefully auditioned to ensure only the finest performances graced the stage. Participants from all branches and academic years enthusiastically showcased their talents in song, dance, music, and drama. Among the highlights were two impressive drama performances. One was a theatrical rendition, noted for its expert acting and dialogue delivery, while the other was a ‘geetinatya’, a lyrical enactment that beautifully blended music and drama. Both performances captivated the audience and showcased the depth of talent of our students.
The event concluded with the felicitation of the Silicon Student Council members, recognizing their efforts and leadership in organizing this grand celebration. Students from all batches and branches participated enthusiastically in the cultural fest, making ZYGON 2025 a memorable and successful celebration that will be cherished for years to come.
