SiliconTech participates in the World’s largest blood donation drive

SiliconTech’s Red Ribbon Club collaborated with Akhil Bhartiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad to participate in the Mega Blood Donation drive, called as Raktdaan Amrit Mahotsavby organizingak a blood donation camp in our campus on 17 September 2022.

The Mega Blood Donation drive considered as world’s largest blood donation drive was launched by the Health Ministry on 17 September 2022 on the occasion of the birthday of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The objective of this drive was to collect blood for its blood banks and create a database of donors who can be called upon at times of emergency.

The students, staff and faculty members of SiliconTech participated enthusiastically in this drive. A total of 115 units of blood were donated in the camp set up in our institute. All the donors received certificates as a token of encouragement for joining the noble cause.

Various camps were also set up in different parts of the city. Apart from SiliconTech, other educational institutions in the city, namely, ITER (Institute of Technical Education and Research) and XIM University, Bhubaneswar also participated in the drive. A total of 2000 units of blood were collected from all the camps set up in Bhubaneswar.

The Union Health Minister Shri Mansukh Madaviya said that more than a lakh people donated blood on the first day of the fortnight-long blood donation drive which began on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s birthday on Saturday, which is a “world record”. This mega blood donation drive is expected to continue till October 1- National Voluntary Blood Donation Day.
