Sonam Acharya from the B.Tech. ECE batch of 2023 was crowned ‘Miss Utkal 2023’ in the ‘Mr. and Miss Utkal’ fashion show organized by Utkal Kanika Galleria Mall on 13 May 2023.
While addressing a press meet, Mr. Purnima Vaida, the Director of the Mall said that the only motto of the event is to discover the hidden talent of the people.
Navdeep Kaur, Mrs. India World 2021, was the Chief Guest of the event. The show was judged by renowned personalities, including actresses Ms. Sheetal Patra and Ms Suryamayee Mahapatra from the Ollywood industry, alongside the most popular fashion icon and eminent choreographer Mr. Saswat Joshi.
Following the auditions, the selected contestants underwent a comprehensive grooming session of five days. Our student, Sonam Acharya emerged as the winner in the Miss Category and was crowned as ‘Miss Utkal 2023’, adding another feather to her cap through her talent and hard work.
It is noteworthy to mention that Sonam was also crowned the first Runner-up in Odisha Queen 2022, a state level beauty pageant held at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) on 8 February 2023.
