Swaroop Mishra from the B.Tech. EEE batch of 2014 along with his team, develops the first AI to solve International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) problems

Swaroop Mishra, a distinguished alumnus from the B.Tech. Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) batch of 2014, collaborated with his team at Google DeepMind to achieve the remarkable feat of developing an AI system capable of solving problems from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2024 at the level of a silver medalist. Swaroop and his team’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) system can tackle these problems with a proficiency that rivals some of the best human minds in the world.

Swaroop has built a remarkable career in the field of AI, establishing himself as a leading expert. Currently, he is a Research Scientist at Google DeepMind, one of the world’s foremost AI research organizations. He recently completed his Ph.D. at Arizona State University, USA, where he made significant contributions to AI research, earning recognition for his innovative insights and groundbreaking work.

Beyond academia, he has also played pivotal roles in both industry and government. He served as a Technical Consultant for the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, and gained valuable experience as a Research Intern at both Google and Microsoft. Additionally, he honed his engineering skills as a software engineer at MathWorks.

Swaroop’s relentless pursuit of excellence and his diverse experiences have made him a distinguished figure in AI. His expertise and contributions continue to shape the future of the field, bridging the gap between academic research and practical applications.
