Talks and webinars encourage students to be entrepreneurs

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (ED Cell) at Silicon organized webinars and talks to encourage students to take up entrepreneurship as a career option. On 30 December 2020, about 350 students heard from Dhirendra Kar, CEO, Business Intelligence Professionals Pvt. Ltd. on his experiences as an entrepreneur. B.S.Pani, Industry Consultant and former NALCO Officer spoke on idea generation. The Director of Silicon Institute of Technology, Dr.Jaideep Talukdar welcomed everyone to the talk, Dr.Mahendra Agasty, the Faculty-In-Charge of the ED Cell spoke about the charms of being an entrepreneur, and Dr.Sanghamitra Das, Assistant Professor, Department of ECE, gave the vote of thanks.

Earlier, on 12 September, the ED Cell organized a webinar on ‘Opportunities for Start-ups in Post-COVID situations’. Deepak Kumar Khaitan, a fellow member of ICSI (Institute of Company Secretaries of India) was the chief resource person for this webinar. Deepak is the recipient of the Entrepreneurship Education Champion – Special Jury Award at the Entrepreneurship Education Conclave at New Delhi organized by the National Entrepreneurship Network, MSDE, Intel & British Council. Around 300 students and emerging entrepreneurs from across the country attended this online program.

SiliconTech established the Entrepreneurship Development Cell in 2011 to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among the students. The ED Cell is the advisory and coordination department for entrepreneurship on campus. It anchors the work of SiliconTech’s Business Incubator and Institute Innovation Council, two hubs that promote entrepreneurship within the institute and in Odisha.
