YfS Silicon Chapter organizes ‘Dare to be Aware’, an awareness program

The YfS (Youth for Sustainability) Silicon Chapter organized an awareness program entitled ‘Dare to be Aware’ on 3 March 2023.  The objective of this event was to observe the ‘National Safety Day’ and ‘World Wildlife Day’ to create awareness about following the safety protocols and protecting the wildlife.

The ‘National Safety Day’ is celebrated on 4 March every year to create awareness about safety in all spheres of life including road safety, workplace safety, and health safety. The ‘World Wildlife Day’ is a United Nations International Day celebrated on 3 March every year to acknowledge the contribution of wild animals and plants for maintaining the ecological balance.

YfS Silicon conducted various competitions on this occasion, namely a wildlife photography contest, a calligraphy contest, and the duo showdown contest. In the duo showdown contest, two participants had a battle of words by speaking for and against one topic.

A total of fifty students participated in this program. Mr. Prayag Samal, Entrepreneur and Photographer at National Geographic Traveler India judged the wildlife photography and calligraphy contest. The duo showdown was judged by Ms. Subhashree Ojha, Assistant Professor and Ms. Sweekruti Panda, Assistant Professor from the Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities.

The event concluded with the prize distribution ceremony. The winners of the various contests were awarded prizes and all the participants were felicitated with certificates to acknowledge their participation and encourage their efforts.
