Silicon established the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) in 2011 to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among the students. Financial assistance from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) helped set up the ED Cell. The Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India helped financially to organize various activities.
The ED Cell primarily aims to train and motivate students to start businesses. It provides an enabling environment for entrepreneurial innovation, creates opportunities for self-employment through formal and non-formal programs, and trains students to have an intrapreneurial spirit and mindset in their future workplaces.
SiliconTech is placed under Band 151-300 in the category of ‘Private Colleges’ in the NIRF Rankings 2023 for ‘Innovation’ by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. The NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) Rankings for ‘Innovation’ was previously known as the ARIIA (Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievement).
Entrepreneurship Development Cell is the advisory and coordination department for entrepreneurship on campus. It anchors the work of Silicon’s Business Incubator and Institute Innovation Council, two hubs that promote entrepreneurship within the institute and in Odisha.
Silicon’s ED Cell offers expertise, networks and resources for aspiring entrepreneurs to build viable business ventures. Incubatees benefit from access to workspace, mentoring, networks, training and funding.
The startup I founded, Silicon Tech Lab, benefited in many ways from the entrepreneurship development facility. We got access to the 10,000 sq ft. of built-up infrastructure absolutely for free. The plug and play facilities helped to start the incubated company in 24 hours. We could consult with the professors to leverage their technical expertise. We gained from the steady pool of good talent from the Silicon students who worked with us during their six months internship. The ED Cell helped us find four anchor clients that established our credibility and was critical to our growth.

The ED Cell hosts activities throughout the year to promote entrepreneurship in the state of Odisha. Students and startup founders benefit from awareness camps, expert talks, entrepreneurship and faculty development programs, workshops and annual fests. Competitions on business plan, idea generation, product prototypes, and proof of concept widen the exposure for incubatees and enrich their knowledge and networks.

Different entrepreneurship development programs like Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps (EAC), Expert Talks and Workshops open the doors to the startup world to not just Silicon students but to any entrepreneurs within the age group of 16 to 35 years and from a science and technology background. The National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB) under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, supports these programs.
The Technology Entrepreneurship Development Program (TEDP) focuses on the training and development needs of science and technology entrepreneurs in a specific technology area.
Know More About TEDPThe Women Entrepreneurship Development Program (W-EDP) is designed to develop the essential skills, business competencies and an entrepreneurial mindset among women to guide and motivate them to set up their own enterprises.

AcesoCloud, founded in 2015 by Mohar Manohar Mishra, offers a cloud platform with embedded AI capabilities that helps healthcare providers to continuously improve patient outcomes while lowering the cost of care. Predictive analytics make patients and hospital management processes more efficient.
Acesocloud got continuous support in terms of recruiting energetic and motivated engineers through the Silicon ED cell which contributed immensely in building solutions of international standards. We were booted by the Silicon incubation center and provided all necessary logistics so that innovators could concentrate on what they needed to do at that point in time. Today, Acesocloud and its sister concern, Inovaare, are firmly placed in the US healthcare market competing with the best in Silicon Valley. Most of the resources, if not all, are from Silicon and are climbing the ladders of success with every passing year.
