Lateral Entry students should have studied Mathematics in Class 12 and have a B.Sc. or Diploma in Engineering in the respective branch to which they seek admission.
The selection will be based on the JEE Main Common Rank List (CRL) of the respective academic session, subject to candidates fulfilling above mentioned minimum eligibility criteria.
Students can take admissions by participating in the OJEE counselling process of the respective academic session conducted by the Government of Odisha or by registering for admissions directly at the university level.
For lateral entry students, selection will be based on the OJEE rank of the respective academic session.
Those students who have not got admission into a program of their choice, in any college, can visit the Silicon campus on the Spot Admissions day. Students will be guided through the admissions process by Silicon’s admissions team.
Seats are allotted to eligible candidates on a first- come-first serve basis based on vacancies in various programs.
The cost of studying at Silicon, including tuition, accommodation, and food, varies between “₹1,05,000-1,60,000” per semester. The final study cost depends on whether the student is a day-scholar or living in a campus hostel, and on the type of on-campus residence (AC/Non-AC) chosen.
Silicon supports students to easily get bank loans to finance their study for four years. Student volunteers will help incoming candidates to engage with the bank representatives present on-campus on the admissions day. Silicon’s excellent track record of placements for graduating students make it easy for new students to get loans from the banks.
Newly admitted students undergo an orientation and induction program, which prepares them for a successful college experience at Silicon.
Packed with expert talks and interactive sessions, the program gives students comprehensive information on their upcoming four years of academic and campus life.
Current students and illustrious alumni share their experiences and interact with the new batches during the program. A guided campus tour familiarises them with all the facilities, resources, and student clubs. Heritage tours around the city introduces students from outside Odisha to the culture of the state.
Students also hear from the Chairperson, Vice-Chancellor, Deans, Heads of Departments, Faculty-In-Charges, and Faculty Coordinators. Every 15 students get a Faculty Advisor (FA) who becomes their mentor for the entire duration of their stay at Silicon. Students get introduced to their FAs and peers in their groups, and other Siliconites.
The induction and orientation program is designed in line with the AICTE guidelines.
The Silicon team interacts closely with the parents all through the four years of their child’s education. Parents can log in to an ERP application to stay informed of their child’s academic progress.
Parents will get the email and phone numbers of the Faculty Advisors who will be the mentor and guide for their child for all four years. The FA, assigned to the students on the orientation day, will be the single point of contact for the parents.
Parents are encouraged to stay in touch with the Faculty Advisors regularly through the four years.
