SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, established the Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities (BSH), the groundwork of all engineering education, in 2001, to provide a strong foundation in different basic sciences, enhance professional communication skills and instill human values in the students across various engineering programs.
The Department offers courses on Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Management, Economics, Environmental Science and Engineering and English Communication and Soft Skills.
Specific courses provide diverse learning experiences through interactive teaching-learning processes, preparing them for rewarding careers, supporting their personal development, and fostering their interests and contribution towards social progress.
Vision
To become a department with an impetus towards research-oriented academics while strengthening the essential fundamentals of science, mathematics, humanities & engineering studies.
Mission
To work towards the holistic development of pupils in areas of both academics and life skills, by imparting in-depth knowledge of subjects with ethical considerations in mind,in order to meet the challenges of society.

The Department of BSH offers various courses in undergraduate and postgraduate engineering programs at Silicon.
The Department has well-experienced and highly qualified faculty members with doctoral degrees in physical sciences, chemical sciences, mathematical sciences, engineering sciences, management, psychology, and humanities. Few of the faculty members hold postdoctoral research experience in physical sciences.
VIEW THE BSH FACULTYSilicon ensures personalized instruction and individual attention to all students. Beyond classroom teaching, faculty members undertake consultancy projects which provide students with opportunities to learn through real-world industry and research work. Seminars, symposiums, and conferences organized throughout the year connect students to experts from outside the institute, introduce them to new developments in the field of technology and help them build networks.
