The Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities (BSH) conducted a four-day national workshop on ‘Functional Materials for Emerging Technology (FMET)’ from 14 – 17 March 2022 in the online mode. This workshop was 4th of a series of national workshops on FMET organized by the BSH department at SiliconTech.
The objective of the workshop was to provide an in- depth knowledge of the state-of-the-art “Functional Materials” that can be applied for various applications for the advancement of Science and Technology. It also offered students, academicians and young researchers a common platform for exploring their innovative ideas through meaningful interactions with distinguished speakers.
Prof. S.D. Mahanti of Michigan State University, USA was the keynote speaker who delivered a talk on ‘Thermoelectricity, History, Renaissance, and Challenges’ and Dr. Purusottam Jena of Virginia Commonwealth University, USA deliberated on ‘Cluster-based solid electrolytes for Li-ion Batteries’. Dr. Prakash Patnaik, Director at National Research Council, Canada spoke on ‘Advanced Multi-Functional Materials through Additive Manufacturing’.
Several speakers addressed the inaugural session, including the Principal, the Director, the Dean (Research), and the Convener for FMET-2022, Dr. Dharitri Moharatha, along with Dr. Manoranjan Behera, the HoD of BSH department. Ananya Roychoudhury, Assistant Professor, of BSH department, hosted the event.
Over 120 participants attended the workshop.
