Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar (SiliconTech) launched its Ph.D program in January 2022.
A number of applications were received, and candidates were selected by an entrance test and interview. 42 of these candidates enrolled in the Ph.D. program during the third week of February 2022.
The induction program for newly admitted Ph.D. scholars was conducted on 26 February 2022. Dr. Soumya Priyadarshini Panda, Senior Assistant Professor, Computer Science and Engineering gave the introductory address. Prof. (Dr.) Saroj Kanta Misra, Director-in-charge delivered the welcome address.
Prof. (Dr.) Tanmay Panda, an accomplished academician and a visiting Professor at SiliconTech spoke on ‘Being Human’. Dr. Sunil Kumar Sarangi, Ex-Director, NIT, Rourkela discussed ‘Research Activities & the General Approach of a Researcher’. Prof. (Dr.) Saroj Rout, Additional Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering spoke on ‘A Ph.D. Journey’.
Prof. (Dr.) Jayashree Das, Dean (Research), gave a detailed presentation on the Ph.D. program, including the rules, regulations, commencement of coursework & the facilities available to Ph.D. students. This was followed by a Q&A session.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Soumya Panda. Afterwards, the Ph.D. candidates were given a tour of the campus and then discussed their research work with their supervisors.
