Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar (SiliconTech) collaborated with DAV Institutions, Odisha zone to conduct a six-day training program on ‘Professional Development in Python, AI, and Data Science’ at SiliconTech premises from 22 – 27 May 2023.
The primary objective of this program was to enhance the knowledge of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) teachers in the areas of Python, AI, and Data Science, and facilitate its effective implementation in classroom teaching. The training program was conducted by industry experts along with resource persons from SiliconTech.
The inaugural session was held on 22 May 2023 and began with the welcome address by Dr. Jaideep Talukdar, our Principal. Dr. Talukdar shared the mission, vision, and notable achievements of SiliconTech. Dr. Sujata Sahu, Assistant Regional Officer, DAV Institutions, Odisha discussed the objectives of this training program and its importance for effectively teaching Python and AI as per the CBSE curriculum. Dr. Sanjit Swain, Faculty-in-Charge, Industry Interface Cell (II Cell), SiliconTech presented an overview of the facilities available in SiliconTech which would benefit the participants during the program. He also shared the agenda for the program and introduced the trainers who would be conducting this program. Other notable guests present on the occasion were Mr. N.K. Pradhan, Principal, DAV Public School, Balasore, Mr. Basudev Panigrahy, Principal, DAV Public School, Bhanjanagar and Dr. Ramaprasad Panda, Dean (Administration & Student Affairs), SiliconTech.
The training sessions were conducted from 22 – 27 May 2023 in a structured approach. Initially, the training focused on providing a strong foundation in core Python concepts, and then as the training progressed the focus shifted towards the practical applications of Python in the context of Data Science and AI. The training was completely interactive having hands-on lab sessions to facilitate practical learning and application of the concepts taught. The participants gained insights into how Python is used in AI and Data Science as well as its applications in industry projects. Real-world industry applications of Python, AI and Data Science and the future of AI were also discussed.
The valedictory session began at 4.00 pm on 27 May 2023 with the address of Mr. N.K. Pradhan, Principal, DAV Public School, Balasore. Mr. Pradhan shared the detailed proceedings of the six-day program and appreciated the trainers for their whole-hearted dedication. He expressed his gratitude to SiliconTech for its hospitality and cooperation. Thereafter, some of the teachers shared their experiences. Dr. Saroj Kanta Misra, our Director highlighted SiliconTech’s commitment to conduct various training programs for skilling and upskilling the students and faculty members. Sumit Sah, the lead trainer shared his experience and discussed the challenges involved in training participants with diverse profiles. The chief guest of this session, Dr. Keshab Satapathy, Regional Director, DAV Institutions, Odisha zone acknowledged the positive feedback received about the training and appreciated the efforts of the trainers. He thanked the entire SiliconTech team for their support. Mr. Nitai Gaur Dhall, our Trustee shared his thoughts about the importance of life-long learning at all stages of one’s life. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Basudev Panigrahy, Principal, DAV Public School, Bhanjanagar, and Dr. Sanjit Swain, Faculty-in-Charge, Industry Interface Cell, SiliconTech.
A total of 107 teachers from 54 DAV Schools across the state participated in the program. The training program was a resounding success and it received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the participants.
