SiliconTech organizes a six-day Faculty Competency Building Program on ‘loT Hands-on Approach’

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar (SiliconTech) organized a six-day Faculty Competency Building Program (FCBP) on ‘loT Hands-on Approach’ from 7 to 12 August 2023. The objective of this program was to enhance the potential and expertise of our faculty members in the cutting-edge field of Internet of Things (IoT).

The six-day FCBP was conducted by Mr. Mukesh Singh, Senior IoT Developer at Robogenesis Digital Services Pvt. Ltd., Bhubaneswar. With over 7 years of IoT expertise, Mr. Singh has successfully delivered training and developed more than five Industrial IoT solutions for diverse industries. His extensive experience includes conducting over twenty training sessions across institutes and industries. Additionally, he has designed numerous IoT modules to address pressing societal challenges.

The program was inaugurated by Dr. Chitaranjan Tripathy, Senior Professor and Research Advisor at SiliconTech. In his address, he discussed the importance of IoT in both industry and research and encouraged participants to actively engage in the program to derive valuable benefits from it.

The topics for the FCBP were carefully designed to align with the current trends of IoT. Participants delved into the development of IoT applications, focusing on the utilization of the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B board, an extensive range of modules, and various sensors. They performed hands-on activities to gain valuable insights into IoT application development.

As a result of the Faculty Competency Building Program (FCBP), participating faculty members achieved several key outcomes. They successfully configured and set up Raspberry Pi devices, establishing seamless connectivity within existing networks. Additionally, they demonstrated proficiency in integrating diverse modules with the Raspberry Pi, allowing them to conduct a wide array of experiments using various sensors. Furthermore, participants gained hands-on experience in establishing connections to IoT clouds and effectively accessing and utilizing IoT data. Notably, a select group of faculty members were entrusted with the responsibility of leading academic labs in the upcoming sessions, showcasing their enhanced competence in IoT technology.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Pradyumna Tripathy, Head of the Department, CSE.

A total of thirty four faculty members enthusiastically participated in the FCBP to enhance their knowledge and expertise in the realm of IoT. The program was coordinated by Dr. Pradyumna Tripathy and Dr. Suvendu Chandan Nayak, Senior Assistant Professor, CSE.
