Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar (SiliconTech) signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Odisha on 4 October 2023 to establish two state-of-the-art super speciality hospitals in the districts of Angul and Barbil.
The two hospitals, namely, ‘Angul Hospital and Research Foundation’ and ‘Barbil Hospital and Research Foundation’ will be established in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode to revolutionize healthcare in the region.
The Government of Odisha has generously allocated four acres of land for each hospital, and both facilities will house 200 beds, making them multi-speciality healthcare centers. The project is expected to begin in January 2024 and will be operational in the next two years.
Under the terms of the MoU, the private consortium led by Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar in partnership with Utkal Hospital Bhubaneswar, will manage these hospitals for a duration of thirty-two years before handing them over to the government. The government will have a majority stake of 77%, while SiliconTech, along with its technical partner Utkal Hospital, together will hold a 23% stake in the project.
The hospitals would be developed as NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers) hospitals to offer 24×7 trauma care, OPD (Out Patient Department), IPD (Inpatient Department) services, multi-speciality, and super-speciality healthcare services.
Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik joined the MoU signing ceremony virtually and said that the state is committed to fulfill the healthcare needs of people in an equitable, efficient, transparent, and time-bound manner to achieve its motto of ‘Every life is precious’.
