SiliconTech students participated in the KIIT International Model United Nations (MUN) held from 6 to 8 October 2023 at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University in Bhubaneswar. Our students secured key positions and won numerous prestigious prizes for their outstanding performance in the MUN.
The theme for this edition of the KIIT MUN was ‘Engage to Empower’. It aimed to foster meaningful discussions and dialogue among the youth to facilitate empowerment and progress that would ultimately contribute to the creation of a more harmonious global order. The MUN featured an Executive Board comprising of members from five different countries and welcomed an assembly of 1300 delegates from across the globe.
SiliconTech students actively participated in the international MUN to address critical global issues. They contributed significantly to the discussions and played a vital role in shaping effective solutions.
Namrata Mishra (CST, 2024) achieved the prestigious position of Director of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) as a part of the Executive Board of the organization. Dibya Jyoti Dash (CSE, 2026) earned the ‘High Commendation’ award from the UNESCO council for his exceptional performance in the MUN. Additionally, Subhojeet Biswas (ECE, 2027) and Amlan Tripathy (CSE, 2026) received the ‘Honourable Mention’ accolades in the UNESCO and UNFCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) committees, respectively. Pranav Kumar (CEN, 2027), Sourav Pratap Kanungo (CST, 2025), and Sahil Murmu (CSE, 2024) received the ‘Verbal Mention’ recognition in UNCND (United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs), UNHRC (United Nations Human Rights Council), and UNGA-LEGAL (United Nations General Assembly- Legal), respectively.
A total of 34 students from SiliconTech participated in the event and brought laurels to the institute for their remarkable achievements at the international level.
Earlier, the SITMUNSoc (Silicon Institute of Technology Model United Nations Society) conducted an offline workshop on 3 October 2023 to develop the analytical skills of its delegation. The workshop focused on refining their ability to break down complex agendas into subparts thereby fostering a more comprehensive and structured approach.
